4. Heat Treatment & Processing

ALLOY X UNS N06002 cannot be hardened by conventional quenching. Only solution annealing is adopted to optimize its performance; aging treatment is not applicable and may be harmful.

Solution Annealing

  • Standard temperature: 1175°C (recommended range: 1149–1204°C)
  • Holding time: 15~30 minutes for batch annealing; 1 hour for continuous annealing
  • Cooling: Forced air cooling or water quenching
  • Purpose: Fully dissolve carbides to form uniform single-phase solid solution, maximizing ductility, weldability and overall high-temperature performance. This is the standard delivery condition.

Hot Forging

  • Recommended forging temperature: 1095°C
  • The alloy features excellent forgeability and resists cracking during hot working.

Cold Working

Cold forming is available. Higher forming pressure is required due to its high rigidity. Solution annealing is recommended after cold working to restore ductility.

Welding

Applicable processes include SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and resistance welding. ERNiCrMo-2 is used as matching filler metal. Preheating and post-heating are not required, and the alloy presents good weldability without embrittlement.

Machining & Forming

Conventional tools and equipment are applicable. The annealed material has stable machinability to meet precision processing requirements.

5. Applications

  • Aerospace: Jet engine tailpipes, afterburners, turbine blades, vanes and other gas turbine hot-end components
  • Industrial Furnace: High-temperature structural frames, radiant tubes, furnace linings and heat treatment fixtures
  • Petrochemical: High-temperature reaction vessels, process piping and fluid control parts under corrosive and high-temperature conditions
  • Power Generation: Gas turbine combustor components and high-temperature flue gas system parts
