ASTM A312 TP316L Stainless Steel Pipe

ASTM A312 TP316L is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel pipe. As an upgraded version of chromium-nickel steel in the ASTM A312 standard system, TP316L stainless steel pipes are renowned for their excellent chloride corrosion resistance. The A312 TP316L specification covers seamless, welded, resistance welded, electroslag welded, and cold-drawn pipe components.  ASTM A312 TP316L pipes are manufactured from stainless steel billets through hot rolling or cold drawing processes. The seamless pipes, produced without any welding process, offer better pressure resistance and can withstand high-temperature environments up to 870°C. Additionally, our pickling (AP) surface treatment gives ASTM A312 TP316L pipes superior strength and surface finish compared to ordinary pipes.  Grade specifications for 316L Stainless Steel Pipe GRADEUNSNOOLD BRITISHEURONORMSWEDISHSSJAPANESEJISBSENNONAME316LS31603316S11-1.4404X2CrNiMo17-12-22348SUS 316L316HS31609316S51----- ASTM A312 TP316L…

ASTM A312 TP316L pipes contain high-quality chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, with lower carbon content than standard 316-grade steel. The molybdenum content provides exceptional corrosion resistance, making it suitable for high-chloride environments. Compared to standard 304 pipes, TP316L has a corrosion rate of only 0.002 mm/year in a 5% saline solution (compared to 0.015 mm/year for 304L), making it ideal for ships, marine applications, seawater desalination systems, and wastewater management, with a service life 5-8 times longer.

Our pipes are available in various specifications to accommodate different diameters and wall thicknesses, meeting diverse industrial needs. ASTM A312 TP316L pipe material has a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa. The 316L Schedule 10S stainless steel pipe has a relatively thinner wall thickness, making it suitable for low-pressure, lightweight applications. Meanwhile, our 316L Schedule 40 seamless pipes feature standard wall thickness and higher structural integrity, providing greater pressure resistance, widely used in oil, gas, and chemical industries.

ASTM A312 TP316/ TP316L seamless pipes are generally furnished in sizes 1/2″ through 24″, while ASTM A312 TP316/ TP316L welded pipes are available from 1-1/2″ through 48″. The wall thicknesses shall be furnished in accordance with ASME B36.10M or ASME B36.19M. The pipes are usually supplied in lengths of 6.096 m (20′), 12.19 m (40′), 6 m, and 12 m, etc. No pipe shall be under the specified length and no pipe shall be more than 0.25″ [6 mm] over the specified length.

Electroslag resistance welded (ERW) 316L stainless steel pipes use high-strength welding techniques, ensuring longer service life and better cost performance. 316L welded pipes can be supplied with or without filler material, adapting to different corrosion resistance requirements, and are widely used in construction and machinery manufacturing. C&N also supplies 316L square tubes, which enhance strength in building frameworks and support structures, serving as durable components in highly corrosive environments.
